The Aims of Creative Arts are:

At Arco Academy, we intend to use a blended learning approach so that creativity sits at the heart of personal and social development. This is to nurture and promotes curiosity, enquiry and reflection.

Key Outcomes

  • More confident, empathetic & emotionally literate students
  • Increase in engagement and awareness of cultural opportunities
  • More confident communicators
  • Provides new platforms for giving students a creative voice
  • New audience development

The outcomes are key to positive change in how students engage with different types of cultures, its positive role in their communities and how they play their part in its development and having an authentic voice.

The Arco Academy Cultural Programme has 3 main strands; this multi-pronged approach recognises the need for creative learning to be accessed in a range of ways to meet desired outcomes and be embedded into the curriculum.

Cultural Calendar: An enrichment programme that uses the cultural calendar of national events to inspire students to create and share new work.

Creative PHSE: To adopt creative participatory learning techniques to engage students in the curriculum.

Cultural Experiences: A programme of trips to arts & media organisations, meeting artists, taking part in workshops to understand how ideas are made into art and being audience members.

This is important to build relationships with local cultural providers.  This is currently done through programmes involving our key partners Theatre Peckham and Young Vic Theatre.
