Arco Academy ‘Wheel of Culture’
We developed our ‘Wheel of Culture’ to help communicate the difference we are trying to make and what’s important to us. We use it as a constant reminder of why we do what we do and how we go about it.
We want to unleash the potential we know exists in all our students.
We strive to empower our students to be the best version of themselves.
Healthy mind and body: we believe that sports participation helps young people develop important skills and enables them to live life to the full (and you don’t need to be a top class athlete to benefit). Healthy students learn better and are better equipped to deal with situations they find themselves in on a daily basis.
Care and respect: we believe that we should all treat others with care and respect. That means listening to and helping others, displaying empathy, being thoughtful, polite and courteous when dealing with other people.
We work hard to live by these values every day:
High standards: we believe we should all strive to be the best we can be and this means setting high standards for ourselves and those around us in everything we do.
Personal responsibility: we help our students understand that life is about choice. Each one of us can make decisions about our behaviour and how we respond to different situations. It is our responsibility to develop, speak out and do the right thing. We equip our students with skills to make better choices on a daily basis.
Professionalism: we believe being professional improves life chances. There are many aspects to being professional and for us it is about appearance, good behaviour, respect, politeness, empathy, understanding social norms, doing what you say you are going to do, doing things to the best of your ability, staying calm and collected and exercising choice.
Integrity: for us acting with integrity is being open and honest, transparent, being true to your own values, having self-respect, raising issues, not covering for others, and not being fearful of speaking up.
