Joan Bartley

Welcome! I am Joan and am responsible for supporting and engaging parents to enhance their child’s approach to learning.

It’s my job to identify any barriers to a student being fully engaged in their learning and personal development and work with them and their family towards overcoming these barriers. I observe and support students and liaise with their parents to find solutions to any underlying issues that may have been highlighted as having an adverse affect on the student’s education and learning ability.

Having grown a family myself and with changing times I recognise that parenting needs have changed and this can impact on good outcomes for the family.  I believe that one size does not fit all and that every child has the right to a good education.

I hope that with the help of my interventions the families I work with are given the chance to achieve good outcomes and I get satisfaction from being a part of that journey and making a difference.

As a support mechanism for both parents and students I create an invaluable space for either to address worries, concerns and anxieties that they may not feel comfortable doing elsewhere. I also encourage parents to see the bigger picture and that the impact of their support of the school for their child’s learning journey improves confidence and achieves better results.

The fact that everyday brings something different and working towards achieving positive outcomes brings a sense of achievement and satisfaction.

I have worked in children centres and schools as an in school mentor and a family support worker which has widened my knowledge and experience of direct work with families and am a good listener and a problem solver. I am an accredited facilitator in various parenting programmes.

I am an extremely creative person and a people person who always adopts a can-do attitude and approach.
